The CHS Cost Estimator Tool by Castlight supports members enrolled in the health plan with healthcare decisions.

The tool is an online program that provides information to help you understand and compare the cost of healthcare services, procedures and prescriptions.

The information you will find in the tool will be personalized to you, including:

  • Cost estimates for healthcare services and prescription medications
  • Quality information for doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers
  • Your personal claims history
  • The amount paid toward your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum
  • Your current Health Savings Account (HSA) balance

Is my data secure?

As a member of TRUSTe (the leading authority on web privacy), Castlight adheres to strict privacy standards. For more information, please read the Castlight privacy policy by clicking “Security” at the bottom right hand corner of your home page.

Castlight has also partnered with McAfee and Verisign to ensure adherence to the industry’s strictest security standards while keeping your data safe in accordance with federal HIPAA guidelines.  Please know that your activities on the Cost Estimator Tool are not shared with your employer.


How do I register for the CHS LiveWELL Health Plan Cost Estimator Tool?

All members of the CHS LiveWELL Health Plan, including teammates and covered family members, have access to the CHS Cost Estimator Tool. To begin using the tool, you must register your account. To register:

  • Log on a Castlight
  • Users may also access Castlight via smartphone (iPhone, Android, or Windows phone) by downloading the free Castlight Mobile app through your app store, or by visiting the website
  • As part of the registration process, teammates will need to use their six-digit teammate ID number, date of birth and your name as it appears on your paycheck. Family members will use the last six digits of their social security number plus home zip code.
  • You will provide an email address (personal email address is preferable) and a password. After you register for the website, you can log in to Castlight at any time. You will use the email address and password you created during the registration process.

What information can I see about my covered family members? What information can my covered family members see about me?

Castlight conforms to all state and federal healthcare laws and statutes, including HIPAA. Castlight will only show the medical records for yourself and your children under the age of 18. For your spouse and children over the age of 18, you will only see limited billing information (as required by law).

Your spouse and children over age 18 may view and share their full medical records with you to view by changing their profile settings to permit the sharing of their records.

Your spouse will only see their own information and the information of minor children.


How often is my deductible and HSA information updated?

Your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum status is updated every week.  As you locate this information on your Castlight homepage, you will see the date in which this information was updated.

Your past care information is updated at the end of each month.  Keep in mind that claims are processed within approximately 30 days from the date of service, so it is likely that you may not see claims for 4 to 6 weeks within your deductible and out of pocket maximum totals.

Your HSA balance will display in real time and you have the ability to directly link into your Bank of America account for more details about your HSA balance (e.g., contribution and expense details). Visit the Health Savings Account (HSA) page for more information.


Where does the estimated cost information for physicians and medical services come from?

The Castlight estimated cost ranges for physicians and medical services are calculated from two years of historical claims data provided by MedCost Benefit Services.


Will I see pricing for any out-of-network providers, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners?

Pricing for out-of-network providers, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners does not appear in the Castlight tool.
